{"id":2404,"date":"2025-06-02T15:21:23","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T15:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vtolbuzz.com\/?p=2404"},"modified":"2025-06-02T16:08:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T16:08:12","slug":"archer-achieves-piloted-ctol-flight-of-electric-midnight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vtolbuzz.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/02\/archer-achieves-piloted-ctol-flight-of-electric-midnight\/","title":{"rendered":"Archer achieves piloted CTOL flight of electric Midnight aircraft"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Archer (NYSE: ACHR)<\/strong> successfully demonstrated a <strong>piloted test flight<\/strong> of its <strong>eVTOL aircraft<\/strong> in <strong>CTOL (conventional takeoff and landing)<\/strong> mode, soaring over 1,500 feet and cruising up to 125 mph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> During the design and certification phases, Archer, along with government regulators and its clients from both civil and defense sectors, recognized the significance of being able to <strong>perform both vertical and conventional take-off and landing<\/strong> as integral to the aircraft&#8217;s routine operations, as <strong>CTOL<\/strong> offers operational versatility and improved safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the practical use and importance of being able to operate in a <strong>CTOL mode<\/strong>, <strong>Archer<\/strong> is utilizing the opportunity in this historic test demonstration to test the <strong>Midnight&#8217;s<\/strong> landing gear and related components. He has provided essential insights while concentrating on cockpit design, which includes the selection of vendors for the display and other equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to his tenure at Archer, <strong>Greenwood<\/strong> worked as a test pilot for <strong>Bell Textron<\/strong>, where he contributed to the development, testing, and certification of leading rotorcraft in the industry. A seasoned veteran, Greenwood served as a pilot in the <strong>United States Marine Corp<\/strong>s for 13 years.
